I want to put 33x12.5 tires on my 4x2. I like the fabtech 3" lift kit but i dunno if it is going to be enough to throw 33's on there. I have a 2002 rc v6. I'd prefer not to do a body lift, but if nobody makes enough suspension lift well, then thats the breaks i guess. Let me know what you think.

You will need at LEAST 6 inches of lift to fit 33's and even then you will need to trim a bit. How you do it doesn't really matter, but right now the only "bolt on" way is a 3" body and a 3" suspension lift. :-)

I second that, tall quad. I tried the Goodyear MT/R at 33x12.5....toooo much rubbing....and i got both 3 inch susp and body, plus 2 inch shackle. I went down to 31 inch bfg's and they run like a charm. Plus steering and suspension was a bit choppy due to the weight of the goodyear 33's. Hey tallquad, i wonder, how's ur 33's holding up? Any problems?

keep in mind that you can go with a 285/75 which is a 33x11 and have less rubbing. most of the rubbing comes from the width. granted with heavy offroading even those will rub.
i have a 4x4(w/3" pa) and while they don't rub on the street i'm pretty sure they would with full suspension articulation.

Running an 8" rim instead of 10's helps a lot too. I know guys like bjlindsey who run 33's and don't rub using an 8" rim.
Chaximus, my tires are running great! I just need to quick running it like a Banshee so the tread will last! I need a new (little) toy to keep from having too much fun in my truck. hehe... :-)

One more question tallquad, after you installed the fabtech lift, did your upper a-arm hit the coil frame when going over bumps and stuff? Mine bangs on it every once in a while...gets irritating a little.

yeah, mine hits too. i've been thinking of a way to get more travel but haven't had time to play with the suspension. i've gotten use to it now, but i hope to fix it someday.

OK, i thought i was a loner on that problem. I noticed since i off-roaded with it TOOOO many times since, it has softened up and dropped about 1/2 inch, so i think by one year or so, it should not hit as much. Let's hope :)

Mine has gotten better since the suspension has broken in, but if I could get rid of the bump-stop without the arm hitting the frame that would help. It would be a perfect lift if we didn't have this problem! Like I said, though, its not a BIG deal to me. Better than nothing!!

I went to tirerack.com and found that in the specs they list exactly how wide and tall every tire is. Pick out the brand of tire you are interested in and then click on the specs. I want to stick with my stock 16" rim(tire and handling package) and run a 31-33" tire that is as wide as the stock tire but is 2-4" taller. I know I'll still have to trim the inside wheel well some but I think the key is getting a taller tire that isn't so wide. I'm looking at a 285/75/16 that is 32.7" tall and 8.7" wide of tread and 11.3 at the sidewall. This is the same width as my stock 29" tire which looks wide enough already.

I have a 98 4x2 with a 3" body lift, I just put on
31x10.5 uniroyal muds with 15x8 rims, i dont rub but its REALLY close to the fender, even off road i dont rub, if i went a tiny bit bigger it would rub, i got lucky, ill put pics on when i get them developed
