Message: Well then... welcome to the family!
Lets see some pics!! BTW, 2" in the rear... doesn't that rake up the rear too much? I think mine is pretty level (measurements are equal) but it looks low in the rear for some reason. I gotta see how yours looks.

Message: The reason i added 2 inch shackles in the rear was cuz the fabtech was only 1.5 in the rear, and 3 up front. So it was laggin back there a little, so i added the 2 incher to level it out, now it's about .5 inch higher in the rear, but loooooks GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Email me and i'll get ya some pix.

Message: I just took a picture of a dodge ram's decal..the ones with the 4x4 off road decal on the tailgate. I asked a decal shop to change the 4 to a 2, and worked out great. Looks like it came from the factory. I always see people through my rear view mirror talking about it and pointing at it.

Message: They aren't that noisy. They whistle a little at high speeds, but they are great overall. I drove them for nearly 9k miles, and the tread is still like new. They are long lasting according to my research. Unfortunately, i want to sell them and go 32 or 33's.

Message: Dweishaar, i personally dont think you know much. cuz you said in another post that you have a fabtech 3in lift with 33s. no way in hell you can fit 33s with a 3in lift on your 4x2. why do people write useless posts and take up space?
sorry, i personally dont have a lift yet, but i will indeed get a 3in fabtech and 3in body

Message: Dweishaar...i gotta admit...i felt the same way you did about body lifts when i first found this site. I had just bought my 2002 4X4 dakota and went to a local 4 wheel shop and asked them if they could throw a suspension lift onto my truck...when they told me no lift was available and that all i could get was a 3" body lift...i about flipped out and traded my truck back in for a Ford Ranger. I hated the idea of 3" of body being shown under my truck.
Then i found this site...i started listening to guys that had the body lifts and heard some opposing arguments. I then went 4 wheeling with 2 dakota owners with the 3" body lift and must admit they performed very well. I decided to do my own research...something you might want to think about doing before acting all high and mighty.
The SUSPENISON lift for the rear of most trucks uses BLOCKS. The 3" BODY LIFT for the rear uses BLOCKS...just in a different spot. I.E. same overall performance from the suspension lift as body lift when it comes to the rear. Only way to get better flex and droop in rear is to add-a-leaf or get completely new leaf springs...the latter being best for performance and also quite expensive for our trucks.
The front suspension keeps all suspension geometry in a suspension lifted truck as a stock or body lifted truck because of the wonderful IFS front that the 4WD has. I.E. same amount of travel and articulation with suspension lift as body lift (talking about the new rack and pinion lift from our favorite Truckin), so even if you get a suspension lift...no real gains in performance for the front either.
Then only gain you get is the ability to run bigger tires and have a stiffer ride...which if I'm not mistaken can be achieved with a body lift and new shocks for a fraction of a suspension lift.
So all i'm saying is that it's fine you don't like body lifts...it's fine that you won't put one on...i personally will pass on them also...but i'm not a jerk about it, most the guys on this site that have been around a long time and that are the people to talk to when your truck is broken have body lifts and are very happy with them. We are all dakota owners...no reason to make enemies with guys and gals that could be your friends.
Personally i like the phrase..."if you can't say anything nice...don't say anything at all!"

Message: hey Chaximus,
did you decide if you get bigger tires what are you going to go with. cause i'm fixin to put the same application on my 99 dak 2wd. i was just going to put the body lift on until i seen your truck it's killer!
so i broke down and put the extra money in.
i'm thinking about going with 32x11.50/15's for right now. do you think i'll have to trim anything?
drop me a line man all info is greatly appreciated

Message: Hey man, yeah i went with 31x11.5 bfg mudders. Love em...makes the truck stand out even more. Gotta fix the gears though..they are waaaaaaay off. I can's steady it on the freeway with cruise control anymore :( I went with goodyear mt/r's at first....at 33x12.5....they were too big....rubbed on both ends of the fender....and i didn't want to chop off anything so i took em back for 31's. The guys offered me 32's for the same price and guaranteed they would not rub, but i didn't go for it. 33's seemed a bit too heavy. 31's feel perfect.
Email me at cmh7456@Osfmail.rit.edu if you want some pix.

Message: okay, first i HAVE to send a big "i'm sorry" out there. due to current computer issues, i can't get my pictures posted. authur...i have to agree and disagree with you buddy. my lift kit was an add-a-leaf to the rear, so i gained both a half an inch of travel and height. as for the front....the refit my guys and i did were new arms, coils and shocks. now this is where you are sorta wrong. the difference between a body lift and a suspension lift is three fold.
-clearance
-travel
-durability
now to your average offroader that likes to put his truck in the mud from time to time (mainly east coasters) can get away with it, cause they keep all 4 feet firmly on the ground. now as for me.. i live in southern california, so all i have to play in is sand and rocks, and i like to launch my truck in excess of 40mph off 10-15 foot dunes. so the differance between a suspension and a body lift isn't a matter of a thousand bucks, its a matter of punching holes through my body and wasting an awesome vehicle. as i've said before....i use my truck to it's utmost abilities, and can't sacrifice performance. i've said my peace.

Message: As to this talk about a body lift "punching holes through the body"...when the veh. is stock, it has the same amount of contact area where the orig. mounting pads meet the body. So why then would putting a 3in spacer between it and the frame make any difference? The area of contact is still the same...at least it has been on any ones I`ve ever done , or seen.
Don`t get me wrong I`m not a big fan of b-lifts myself , mainly for the cosmetic reasons , but if that`s your only real choice , what`s a person to do?
BTW I`d love to see a truck with the Truckin Suspension or Whiplash kit survive the type of punishment you speak of...and not just one or two times.I guarantee they would come apart before a body lift would come through the body!
Please remember us 4X4s don`t have a reliable susp. lift yet.

Message: Dweishaar,
First off...i'm sorry too. I didn't mean to be mean, i was just trying to make clear that your ideas need not be so openly negative.
Your very right when it comes to the idea that USUALLY a suspension lift does provide better travel...but the current lift for our 4X4 trucks from Truckin DOES NOT provide better travel or articulation.
I'm a very avid 4 wheeler. I had a Jeep before i got my dakota. I also live in SoCal. My normal hang out spots are the Pismo Dunes for sand and Pozo for rocks and trails. You can ask a few of the guys on this site and they will speak on my behalf for how crazy i can get in my truck. I understand totally that suspension lifts do a better job with 4 wheeling. I totally respect the fact that you use your truck...especially since so many SoCal guys lift their trucks for looks and never use them.
Just understand suspension lifts aren't worth buying for our trucks yet...and so many want some altitude for their trucks.
By the way...i do like the look of your truck...i love prerunners out at the dunes. Next you need a full race cage and a paint job!
