Message: Does anyone make a kit to level the front of a 4x4? About an inch raise? I know the torsion bar thing but I dont know how to do it, or where they are for that matter. Any help would be great.

Message: I called sway away about six months ago and at that time the gut that I talked to said that they were currently working on new bars that were stronger and would provide some lift. I never checked back though because i cranked my bars up two turns, and the truck is level.

Message: Ktmrcr,
About two years ago when I started to do the suspension lift my ’88 Dakota I had called Sway-Away to get a set of torsion bars. I was told they do not manufacture bars with hexed ends. At the time, everything they made was splined like GM uses. I ended up using a set of 2000lbs. V8 bars I bought at the dealer. Are you sure they were making bars for Dakotas? The impression I got from my conversations with them was they built bars primarily for Dune Buggies and stuff like that. It sounded like they weren’t much interested in the aftermarket truck crowd.
Jon,
Click on one of the images below and surf to my webpage. When there, select the link to my Dakota page then Tips and modifications. There I have posted instructions on how to crank the bars. If you look under your truck, you’ll see two long bars that run latterly from the backs of the lower control arms to a cross member under the transfer case. On the cross member end of the bars, you’ll find a large bolt near the end of each bar. Tightening the bolts will raise the front of the truck.
Walt
