Subject: Body Lift Question IP: Logged
Message: I have a 92 CC, 5.2, 4x4 and am interested in purchasing a body lift...PA only has a 2" lift and thats just not good enough. Trailmaster has a 3" and I was given a good price on it. Anyone have any feedback on these kits? Also will I be able to get a 33" under the wheel wells after this? One last thing, I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of a gen II with a body lift or any feedbakc on the installation...THANX ALOT

Message: i've got the trailmaster 3in body lift on my 94 CC 4x4 5.2L V8. i think it works great. i put it on so i'd be able to clear some wheels with a bigger offset. on mine, i can't run any bigger than 31 in tires without rubbing when the wheels are turned. i've only seen one person with 33's and only the body lift and they had to do some major fender hacking and it didn't look good at all. however, trailmaster will say that their lift won't work if you have a V8, but i had a shop do mine that did a little custom work and it worked out. also, it only came with a relocation brackets for the front bumper, so i had to have a welding shop custom do the back bumper. i'll get some pictures soon

Message: I have 31's on my truck now without a bodylift..So if I lift the body 3" your saying you cant fit 33's under it? I'm sure if you got a 33x10.50 they would fit fine? If you do the math it should work out..If not what kind of hacking does it require? And ya I would appreciate seein your pics...

Message: when i turn the wheel about half way so the tire is as close as it can get to the fender, there is about 3/4 of an inch of room between the fender and the tire. that means a 33 wouldn't fit. i could fit 33's in the rear, but because i have wheels with a larger offset then the stock wheels, i can't go any bigger on the tires. i'm still running the same tires as before the lift. i added the body lift to get more clearance so i could run the wheels that stick out further. mid-90's dakotas come with wheels that have a positive offset so the tire is tucked in to the fender. i wanted to gain a wider stance, but when i tried adding a wheel with a large offset, the tires would rub. i never changed my tire size. it all depends on the backspacing(or offset) of the wheel. if you're going to keep your stock wheels, then there's a slim chance you'll be able to run 33's but you'll still have to do some fender trimming and then, the tires may still rub on the frame. you could also crank your torsion bars, but i still don't think they'd fit. you'll have a hard time finding anyone that runs 33's on our style dakotas with only a body lift. the ones that i've seen that have 33's go with a body lift and the trailmaster 4in suspension lift. i'll email you some pics.
