Subject: 31" on stock rims IP: Logged
Message: I've got a 2000 4DR, the factory tires are ready for replacement.
Now, I've seen two different styles of wheel on 2000 Daks.. one has 5 single spokes, the other has 5 double spokes. It seems all the 4DRs I see have doubles, but mine has singles.. anyone have any idea what the difference is other than looks?
I'd like to put some 31's on the stock wheels, but I think I'll have to space them out.. comments anyone?

Message: The 5 single spokes are 15X7 rims. The double spoke are 15X8 rims that come with the tire and handling package. 31X10.50 tires came stock on the 15X8 rims on the 4X4 daks. They will work on the 15X7 rims without spacing them out as you said. If you want them to stick out farther, you have to get new rims with smaller backspacing.

Message: Hey, thanks for the input... think they would fit without lifting?
I was measuring the wheel wells today. looks pretty tight.

Message: I am running the Wrangler MTR's on my 15x7 rims with no lift and they only rub when I have the wheel fully turned. The only reason they rub is because of the aggressive tread pattern. If you stick with a less aggressive pattern, you won't have any problems.

Message: Very cool Brian, thanks
I want to life it still, but I'm watching the threads on the PA body lift.. seems there's mixed feelings about it, and I won't have time to do it until I get my plane finished.
In the mean time, I need to get the tires replaced before they're as bald as I am.
Thanks Again,
Bill.

Message: Check the archives but I think a 3" body lift on a 2WD puts you at the stock height of a 4WD. This would let you run the 31" tires if you wanted. First week in August I will have a set of the 15X8 double spokes for sale ($200.00) if you are interested.

Message: Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I don't knwo that I can wai that long before I replace my current tires though.
I've been reading about the PA body lift. Seems that most think it's OK. I'm planning on stopping by a truck specialty store out here to check it out. I've heard some issues with the intake airbox, and I'm also wondering about the various wire harnesses that have to make the jump from the frame to the body.
I've never done a lift before, but I'm very mechanically inclined and equipped, can weld too so I know I've go tthe ability, just don't want to go through it if there's something I'll have to just accept and/or get used to.
