Subject: Coil spacer lift IP: Logged
Message: I just had a set of 2" coil spacers from daystar installed into my 97 2wd dakota and have a question. As of now(lift has been in 1 week) I have gained 3" in the front, leaving me 1" higher than the rear of my truck. Has anyone else who has put in front spacers had this happen? I believe the front will settle some, but will it settle 1"? This kit was just supposed to level my truck, not give it a leap-frog look. Should I be looking for a rear lift also or will it eventually level out? Thanks.

Message: Put in a rear 1in block, or a set of add-a-leafs. It will level out and all will be fine.

Message: Would a lift block and or add-a-leaf work with the stock setup of axle over the leaf pack or is for when the axle has be flipped only?

Message: What would be the easiest/cheapest way to lift the rear of my truck-97 2wd dakota-my truck has the leaf pack underneath the axle. All I need is to lift it 1-1.5 inches. Can I use shackles from another vehicle to lift it that much, I can't find anyone who makes longer shackles for the dakota's.

Message: Sorry I forgot about the 2wd spring under axel thing. I got a set of 2in lift shackles from the hated AIM ind. a few months ago. Not to be the only wierdo to compliment them but they fit great and have not shown any negitive side. I like them. I think they were about $55.+ A bit shipping. Good Luck.

Message: Joe E. I'm glad you didn't have any problems with AIM.. Your the only one I've heard of that hasn't. Perhaps they are turning around.. But I doubt it.
1" lift block would be the least expensive way.

Message: Joe, when you got your 2" lift shackles, did you also have to get the hangers? I was looking at their site and it says that the shackles must be used after the hangers have been installed. Or are the hangers for a larger lift? I think that would be my easiest and cheapest way to bring up the rear of my truck.

Message: Ok. I bought just the shackles. I dont know why they say they need the hanger too. But the shackles alone are 2in of lift, w/ the habgers its 4in. I did have to slightly move the stock hanger wider than it was to fit the new shackle in but it was no big deal. They work fine and I love them. Great lift... Good Luck. If any more info needed, Ill get back to you Friday. Im driving to Michigan from Fla Wed. morning. Later.

Message: Hey Joe, want to hear something funny...I took measurements of my truck right after the lift was installed and just again tonight, about 2 weeks later. Well, I discovered that the back of my truck is dropping more/faster than the front...hardy-har-har. So now the back is about 1-1/2" lower than the front, looks like I have a load of rocks in the bed. Looks like those 2" shackles might be my only hope of a level ride. Well, at least I will be close the 4x4 ride height. Thanks again for your help.

Message: Joe, my truck is a 97 2wd, 3.9, 5sp, sport-reg. cab/sht. box dakota. I think it is more noticable that the rear is lower on my truck becuase of its short wheelbase. Oh, I found your truck in the photo albums, nice! Gotta go for now but thanks again for the information with the shackles. Helped a lot!
