Subject: After body lift problem IP: Logged
Message: Anybody have a problem with the bed of their trucks sounding like it bouncing around after their body lift? I have the 3inch installed.
I've retightened every bolt and the bed is still bouncing around back there. Every time I go over a bump I hear a clunking noise and I can see the bed shaking as the cab the is still.
All the black things were installed as well as the two rectangular brackets which were welded into place.
any thoughts.... ?

Message: Could the bolts have bottomed out? i.e. they are too long. I thing there were two different length bolts in my kit.
Can you lift/move/jiggle the bed by lifting at the back or wheel well?

Message: The bolts were different sizes but I looked through the little drainage holes in the bed and I can see the bolts coming through. As I was tightening the others I was feeling with my fingers tips to make sure the bolts were actually penetrating the wholes so I know that's ok.
I tried lifting the bed, shaking it left and right and it didn't budge. But get this, as I was pushing the truck left and right there was this clunking noise coming from the axel. The rim/tire is moving left to right on the axel making some type of clunking noise. Is there suppose to be a little bit of play in an axel?? I took the tire off and the whole drum/brake off to see if could still move it and it did about 2-3mm. But this doesn't sound like the same noise I'm getting from the bed of the truck. The older cars you could just tighen down that bolt where the bearing was but there's not even a bolt.
Jeeze what a pain.

Message: Do you have side steps? Like Smittybilt? I had the same problem. The back of the step was banging against the body when i turned. I just grinded some metal away on the steps. no more noise.

Message: Well, after practically taking everything off the rear end of the truck and 4 hours later I found the problem this morning. Both top bolts on the new shocks that were installed about 2 weeks ago were both about 3 full turns shy of being tight. So after tigtening the 4 bolts on the shocks I'm riding steady and firm again. Thanks for everyone who replied. I also did find the tire was a bit loose so I tightened that down to bjlindsey. Thanks all
