I've got a '99 Dak, 2wd, standard cab, short bed. How bad, or good, would it look to put it up 3"? ive always thought that raising a 2wd was kinda dumb, seeing as how the 2wd's tend to get stuck in 3 inches of snow anyways. but i think it would look alright. i just put new 255/70-15 BFG's on, the standard size for the wider tire sport....what do you think?

I just put 3" on my 2002 2wd last weekend and I think it was worth it! Before, I felt like I was driving my girlfriends car and now it feels more like a truck (rides the same as stock)! Not only that but it LOOKS like a truck. The 2wd are just too low to look mean IMO. I'm thinking I can put 32's on with the lift, at least 31's. That should give you an idea if you buy tires later on. I have 255/65-16's now and it looks fine, so your new tires should look good with a lift if you decide to do it.

Thanks TallQuad. How much did you pay for the lift kit? and did you do the labor yourself, or have someone do it? if you didnt do it yourself, what was your overall cost?

If your going for looks have at it. If you want functionality then it might be better to leave it as is. The only reason I'm going to be lifting mine when the Suspension lift comes out is to clear bigger tires.

I ordered the kit from Desert Rat here in Phoenix, it was $232.40 with tax. You can get the kit a little cheaper online but I wanted it sooner, hehe.

I installed the kit myself with the help of a friend so the were no additional cost. It really isn't that hard to install but there are a couple of pain-in-the-a$$ steps that took the most time. One of which has to to with the manual shifter (it needed to be staightened using a torch). But if you have an automatic you shouldn't have the same problem. As far as install prices... I heard shops charge between $400-$500.

BTW - If yours is a '99, I actually have your kit right now at home. I ordered the wrong one from JC Whitney (97-99 kit) and I have a 2002. The kit there is only $157!! If you are interested let me know. If not, I would order through jcwhitney.com (part# 81ZX6431T)

Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks again TallQuad. I'll keep you posted about the kit. I dont have the room or the utilities here to do the job myself, so i am looking at prices around the area to see who'll lift the Dak for me the cheapest. if i find a good price for labor, ill let you know about the kit!

Mine is not a SC, but at least you'll get an idea. I don't have my pics in right now but I will post them ASAP. Also, look at some of the "viewer's rides", I think there is a couple on there!?... Tonight when I get home I'll email you some pics I have of other trucks w/lifts. I did TONS of research before I installed mine so I have a ton of pics!
