Message: I am getting a 5.5" lift and putting 33" tires on and I was wondering if anything we need to be done to the gear ratio? Or is that only if you puit 35s on?

Message: Well i got some questions for u...
What year truck?
What engine?
What transmission?
What gears do u have in right now?
Gears aren't necessary...but they do help...if you have the smaller engine with the smaller gears and an automatic and 33's, it would probably be a good idea to go to a different ratio.
I have the 3.9L with 3.55 gears with the auto and 31" tires on the new 2002 Dakota and i wish i had stepped up to either the 4.7L, the 3.92's, or both.

Message: Arthur is correct.. If you have a 4.7 with the 3.55's you'll be fine. If you have the 3.9 you might want to upgrade.. but that's up to you. It'll be fine either way.

Message: Arthur & Knobby are right. You don't have to change the gears...it's just a matter of personal preference and how you drive whether you change the gears or not.

Message: I have a 98 CC 4x4 3.9L with 5.5" lift and 33's. Should I change the gear ratio? I don't know what gears are in it now either (I bought the truck used). If I should then what do you suggest?

Message: I would suggest 4.10's with that setup. I think 3.92 would be fine if you had the 4.7 or 5.9 .. But 4.10's would rock with your setup.
