Subject: warranty?? IP: Logged
Message: I talked to the ford dealership where I bought my dak, used of course. Anyways I got the extended warranty through Ford and asked them what a lift would do to it, as in voiding service. They said as long as the failed component wasn't a result of the lift they would still provide warranty service. I also have this in writing but my experience with Ford is that their not worth the paper they wipe their a$$ with. Only reason I bought my dak from them is I got a great deal. If anyone has or has had similar issues I would really like to here about them. Its the only thing holding me back from getting a lift.

Message: Actually.. that's the law. I don't know where it's written but I'm sure someone on here still has the link to the website. Also .. I haven't had any problems like that with Ford.. You might want to try a differen't dealer if your having problems with that one.

Message: The law you are thinkning of Knobby is the magnum morrison act of I think but don't quote me on this of 1989. it states and I quote "in order for the warrenty to be denyed the modification must has to have caused the problem." Ok, so that's not a direct quote but still. if you want more ion fo go to.:

Message: I was wondering the same thing myself. If i put aftermarket cat back exhaust on my 2001 QC i dont want the dealer to say that the exhaust was the cause when i have a problem with my engine (example only). Paying all the mony for my extended warantee would be stupid if anything i do would void it.

Message: It's actually the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Here is a good overview.

Message: You have to be careful with this one. The Magnum Morrison Act applies to the factory warranty only. It doesn’t always apply to extended warrantees and definitely does not apply to aftermarket service contracts. Since you bought the truck used at a Ford dealer, it might not be a Dodge factory warranty. Who is the warranty underwriter? If a company like GE Capitol, Portfolio or even Ford underwrote it, they are only bound to the terms of the contract you signed when you bought it. Even the Ford dealer you bought the truck from, is not obligated to honor the warranty beyond any local or state Used Car requirements.
