Subject: body lift with standard transmission IP: Logged
Message: I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the body lift works with a manual transmission? Mainly I'm curious about how it affects the shifter and if you have to buy an extender? I've never done a body lift before and I want to add a couple more inches so that I can fit 35's with the tuff country suspension lift. Also, any recomendations for a good mud tire that's good for a daily street driving? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Message: I don't know how the shifter on yours sits, but I had to move the center console back about 4 inches and do some trimming on the shifter hole. Mine's a 2001 QC, I'm guessing that you have a pre-2000 model, since you're talking about getting the Tuff and Country lift. You really don't need the extension, because the drop of the shifter is not really all that noticeable. If yours is anything like mine, you will A) Have to do what I did, B) Remove the shifter from the tranny and put it on a vice, and hope that you can bend that STEEL shifter without f#@$!ing it up and hope you do it in the correct angle(you'll see what I'm talking about if you try this.),or C) Remove the whole console and just say, "f$#! it, the outside looks good! That's what really matters!" Good luck.

Message: With my '98...the 3" extension is needed (which comes in the Performance Accessories kit). Without it, you will not be able to put the 4x4 shifter lever back on. The shifter comes right off with a few ipns/bolts...cut the shifter in teh middle...weld the new 3" extension in..and re-install. Very easy to do.

Message: thanks for the help. I have a 99 dak that I'm still debating on lifting. The only thing thats holding me back is that I really want the ext. cab and mines only standard. The ext. cabs look better lifted and I was contemplating trading mine in for one. Decisions, decisions. No sense in dumping the money into it if I'm trading it in. Oh yeah, nice set up dakota.
