There you'll see shots of my new Z tube with the cold air filter canister.
Installation was fairly easy except for two points, relocating the cruise control and trying to fit the adapter for the flex hose. Worst part about the new cruise control bracket was tightening the nuts...the design of the bracket forces the use of a 10 mm wrench at an odd angle...you can't really see what you're doing and you've only got enough room for short turns of the nuts. The adapter for the flex hose will not work with an automatic transmission, or at least I couldn't make it work. The plastic adapter that is supposed to fit over the hole in the inner fender and connect to the flex hose places the flex hose right where some plugs on the transmission control module sit. Tried for about 30 minutes to make it work, then gave up and shoved the end of the flex tube into the hole in the fender liner. The instructions also say to remove the PCM and put a supplied cover over the hole in the fender behind the PCM to prevent hot underhood air from getting into the inner fender and subsequently sucked into the air intake. I didn't bother doing this since I figured Dodge put the hole behind the PCM to help keep it cool.
It seems to work well...part throttle response is noticably better than with my home brew connected to an airaid. The filter canister keeps the intake noise down...less noise than an open filter but more than stock. Two thumbs up!

I did the z tube not for performance gains but just to clean up the underhood look. I didn't like the way my homebrew looked, although it did get rid of the kink in the flex hose caused by the body lift. The open filter was a little too loud for my taste (made something in the interior rattle at 2000-3000 RPM under load), and I was always concerned about water/mud getting all over the open filter when driving through deep water (a fairly regular occurrence in Tampa).
