Then dont say they are crap. I am getting sick and tired of people saying how crappy Daks look on body lifts when they obviously havent ever even seen one.
* They do NOT show the frame like other trucks.
* They do NOT have gaps at the bumpers if you use a P.A. kit because it comes with brackets to raise the bumpers.
* You can NOT see under the bed if you put on lift lips, and cant even notice it without unless you look really hard.
It seems some folks like to go off about things that they obviously have no clue about. Dont go slamming something unless you have LOOKED AT PICTURES FIRST! You really sound like a complete and utter idiot when you do. If you dont like a body lift, fine, DONT GET ONE! If you want to put a susp lift on, then DO IT. If you want me to have a susp lift, great! Mail me a check for the price of the lift and install and I'll order it tomorrow. But do NOT go slamming me or others for making a choice of the much more affordable, and for under 4 inches, just as effective, body lift.
If you want to know what a body lift looks like, then go look at pictures. There are plenty here to choose from. The following people have body lifts and accessible pictures. This list is NOT all inclusive as I know I will leave someone out, and it is purely un--intentional.

i think dakotas should of came with a body lift from the factory
my friends just bought a 93 sport...its still stock and i dont like how it looks...not to mention how the 4wd shifter almost hits the plastic vent right below the astray
and when you got a gen1 like i do(89 sport4x4) a body lift is your only lift avalible so im all for them

AMEN! .. Heh.. yea.. get a suspension lift... LOL right... I tried that.. Trust me the body lift is by far the way to go.. Lots less expensive. Easier to do and basically accomplish the same thing (run bigger tires). You get alittle better aproach & departure angles that the suspension lift would have.. But for the cost? Body lift is the way to go.
Look @ my truck compaired to Hawkeyes.. Tell me which looks better (hint: Hawkeyes will actually move under it's own power.)

ever seen a gen1 with a body lift, i dont like the fact that the fram sticks down, yes on gen1s it WILL, because stock it already hang down and inch or so
and dan with some slight modification a trailmaster 4 in for a 91 will fit, i have seen it done a few times, ill see if i can get you link

Yeah...time wise the body lift is faster too...right knobby??? (sorry bud) Even a bonehead like me can get a bodylift and 33x12.50 tires on in 2 days!!!! Love those X-Terrains!!!!

I have had a body lift on three trucks and to me it looks the best on this one. Engine sinkage? I can't even tell it's lower. The only way you can is if you compare a before and after photo. Looks of the truck with or without the lift don't even compare in my opinion. I think chebbies ruined the reputation of body lifts cause yes they do look god awful with them. Look at all of our trucks and tell me the body lifts look like crap!

Yeah... body lifts suck! Who would want to spend less money to gain more height, more room for larger tires, and change nothing to the already smooth suspension, and all while being able to add one to your truck in one afternoon while drinkin' a bud!

In the same folder you'll also see some underhood shots showing the engine looking so puny in the engine bay...the dreaded "engine sinkage." Looks fine to me, and it made more room for me to change my rearmost plugs with ease AND allowed me to easily fit a Z-tube with the filter canister.

Crusty - I'm not to far from you, in Northglenn. Probably 15-20 minutes away. I've only had the GY MT'R's for about a week, but I think are awesome. I've got them up to about 65-70 mph, a little bouncy-er than the stock ones but not to bad. A friend of mine has 32" BFG MT and are louder than mine.

Thanks, Dan and Scott....I like it. Tire noise is louder.....but so is stereo!!!! Not bad for such a cool looking tire...IMO.

BTT = Back to top.
I can see no way whatsoever that the body lift would affect the brakes. Only place there is any concern is up front. Thats what the brackets are for that come in the kit that mount on the frame. From there all the way back, the brake lines run along the frame. The body lift does nothing to the frame.
