Subject: big tires/lift IP: Logged
Message: i have a 2000 dodge dakota r/t i wanna put 33s without having to buy a lift kit. i heard from a friend that i would blow my tanny and that it would rip my side tire fenders off. can anyone help me out. would it be easier to just lift it or could i just put 33s without having any problems? Thanks

Message: You don't want to use a lift kit?
Why don't you want to do it properly?
Why do you want your Dakota to be unsafe?
I guess the alternative is to re-radius the wheel wells.
Good luck with that.

Message: Tara, try a body lift to give you some breathing room in the wheel wells and they are not that expensive but 33's might still be a fairly tight fit but you should be ok if you stick to the road and not the trails,i would have the tire shop stick a 33 on the front and test the turning, also when you go bigger in tire size there is a chance you will lose quite a bit of power and in order to correct that you need to change the rear-end gears thats when it gets expensive but i dont know what gears you have now but that could come into play.

Message: im not being smart, but put your truck info, (year, dakota, engine size) and liftkit into google and it will pull up tons of shopping results, you can find almost anything online.

Message: and remember that an R/T is about 2" lower than a regular 2wd Dakota. R/T should also have a 3.92:1 ratio gear.

Message: DONT BE CHEAP AND MAKE SURE YOU BUY OR MAKE GAP GUARDS!!!! they are the difference between a good looking body lift and a crapy one....they fill in the gap left inbetween the body and frame rails in the wheel wells.

Message: your right it would be weird.....but as far as being on the road goes, smoking ricers with a dakota with 33's...priceless. just image a dokota on 33 inch mud terrains just baking em down. ooohhhh yeah. lol. But really, off road bad idea and waste of money, just for looks? i say go for it.
