I have a PA 3" body lift for a 2001 QC 4x4...directions say disconnect T-Case shift linkage, but mine is electric....just to make sure, do I just blow that off ciz it's electric?? Also The directions say to pull the fuel vent and filler tube off the gas tank...Do I really need to do that if I disconnect the filler from the gas door??? Thanks a million for your replies...Need to finish it tomorrow!!!!

what about the steering linkage....do you have to weld in a new piece?

on the 99 model, you just pop off the old one and insert the extension..little easier said than done. No welding, just make sure to tighten it all up good and check to make sure you have your steering wheel true before you tighten it all back up.

Thanks guys. Hawk..the directions say to disconnect the filler tube from the gas filler door AND disconnecting the vent hose and filler tube from the tank itself...seems redundant to me.

Spare Tire... don't forget to lower it.. and take off the tube. I figured out why that's a problem.. Easy to do .. Promise.. LOTS harder if you don't have a hole in your bumper to push that bar out.

Least I think your suposed to take that out.

few more tips. front bumper directions are jibberish. references parts that don't exist. Look at what you got and make it work. I think I got shorted a few bolts, but I made due.

Also...Fan Shroud. I didn't "lower it" with the brackets...just trimmed 1-2" off the bottom until it cleared....IMPORTANT. I messed this up so beware. Trim 1/2" extra cause your engine will torque when you hit the gas and may whack your shroud..like it did to mine.

Good luck. I just got all my trimming done and got her all polished/bufed up. You should meet TallQuad and I some time the week to compare notes. DAMN...it looks GOOD!

Later,

Went pretty well...coulda done a lot of stuff different....like the shroud...coulda trimmed it with a sawzall while on the truck...woulda saved a good hour. When reinstalling the front bumper, I pulled it as far forward as I could to help w/ clearance, Matbe gained a half inch between the spacers and the bumper both being forward. Took the transfer case skid plastic off, but didn't need to due to electric shift T-Case...wasted 10 minutes on and off. Didn't care for how brake line bracket extension worked...but it worked. Steering extension was pretty cool, if I woulda had better access to it. Had to remove it after I had it all done to relocate automatic tranny shift cable. Gas filler removal was a waste of time as you said. Spare tire winch was way easier than the way I did it!!!!! Drilled the hole for the crank way too low in the license plate mount. Scratched the cab a little lifting bed. Other than that..not too bad. gotta wait til tomorrow eve to get the tires mounted. Then a wash job, pictures, and meet you guys out for a beer later this week!!!! Later...thanks for the tips.

Woo Hoo!!! X-Terrains are on...mounted and balanced at Wal-Mart for $44. Guy first refused to do it saying the 305/75-R16s were 5 inches bigger than my 265/70-R16s.....Doofus Later he admitted he looked it up wrong and said he would go ahead and do it, but wouldn't be responsible for rubbing. I told him all of you guys said it would work and so on they went. When I came back, he gave me the thumbs up and told me how good they looked....smart doofus!!!! While I was waiting to pay the bill, some guy came in looking for tires for his Chevy...265/70-16s!!!! Wally World didn't have anything he wanted and he walked away..........but not before I sold him my newly removed tires w/ 9700 miles....for $250 cash on the spot. Life is good!!!!

I got to see TallQuad's truck in person and it's a sweet lookin truck, especially with the 10 inch rims. For looks, the 10's are definitely the way to go....for lazy cheap asses like me, that happen to have the factory Bright Silver wheels that match my truck...I think I'll be pretty happy w/ them , since I have done no trimming whatsoever, YET!!!! She's still a streeter for now, so I'm sure when she begs for the dirt or sand, I will have to do some trimming. And if you're going to trim, you might as well trim some more and get the 10 inch rims and get the look. Just my humble opinion...worth about 1½ cents (inflation). I went cheap for now...waiting to see if more option open up later. The Hansen Enterprises bumper I believe will solve the front bumper rub, but the back of the wheel well will (wheel well will???) always need some work w/ big tires. Question is...how much do you want to do???
