Subject: Gen II with 2" body lift fits 33's?!? IP: Logged
Message: I just saw this on Ebay:

I am putting a 2" body lift on mine and this is promising if I can fit 33's...I was guessing 32's would be it. Has anyone else tried this combination?

Message: you gota realize that this person did do some fender hacking, look close at the front air damn it usualy follows the fender straight down but in the pic it is slanting. to bad you cant see what he did in the back of the front wheel well cause that is the spot that the tire would rub the most. looks kinda good though, makes me think about a 3 in. and those 32's a little more.

Message: tj... does it rub the body or the frame? i imagine it's the frame, because i have 31's stock with no rub... also, what year is yours... that could be part of it

Message: It all depends on the width and back spacing of your rims and the width of the tire you want to run. With just a 3” body lift & cranked torsion bars on my truck before, I rubbed slightly when turning with 31’s mounted on a set of 15x8 rims with a 3-1/2” backspacing. 31’s will probably fit fine with rims with a stock width and backspacing on the street. You may get some slight rubbing on the frame when off-road. Change one of those variables and you will most likely rub.
Now I have the 4” suspension lift, 3” body lift and cranked torsion bars on my ’88. My rims are 15x10 with a 3” backspacing with 33x14.50 Baja Claws mounted on them. I rub slightly when flexing. I probably could run a ’35, but I wouldn’t be able to wheel the truck without tearing up the tires and fenders.
87-96 Dakotas have the same wheel well dimensions so the year of the truck doesn’t become a factor until 97, which will fit 31” tires on a stock height 4x4 because the wheel wells are larger.
