Also for sale are my axles that were regeared with 4.56 gears. I will sell both front and rear axles for $1,000. Axles have 3K miles on them after the new gears were put in.

The lift is $500. My old front suspension is available if any parts are needed to help the sale. I do not know what parts are different on the 04's hopefully some out there can help out.

So I've been looking around- does this kit lower the front differential? Also, what does it use (if any) to lower the steering components?

These seem to be the only differences between the 97-99 and 2000-2002 kits.

Different front diff, 97-99 has an IFS variation of the Dana 35. 2000+ has a C205mm (aka 8")

Different steering, 2000 was the first year for rack and pinion on the 4x4.

Lots of subtle changes that would make the kit not work without modifications. It wouldn't be a direct bolt in installation.

Yes I understand that thanks. The rack is held in by two bolts- its easy to fab lowering brackets. The front diff isn't much different but might need different brackets than the old d35 which is why I was asking how the lift went about the drop brackets.

The pn# RS6590 kit for the 97-99 Dakota can be found at http://www.streetperformance.com/part/rancho-suspension/suspension-lift-kits/560668-rs6590.html

Also a few google searches under RS6590 will give some pictures as well. I am not sure how to post pictures here but if you e-mail me at m.colantuoni@hotmail.com I will send them to you.

Walt is right that this kit is best off to someone with the correct application.

I have a used '97-'99 kit modified to fit the '00-'02 trucks. Converted the end of the steering rack to a beefier, heim joint end and you just drill out the taper on your knuckle. Brackets professionally modified, powder coated black, comes with 4 RSX shocks and steering rack. You will need to supply the rear block and u-bolt kit. I straight-axled and went bigger! $400 OBO. Email msharrington"at"q.com for more info and pictures. Thanks
