 Subject: lift kit question

what is differant between the years 97-99 2wd dakota and the 2000-2002 2wd dakota. doetsch tech offers a 6in front and 3 in rear kit for the 2000-2002 years but only a 3in for the 97-99 years. could the newere kit fit on my 99 dakota? it is a 5.2 2wd ext cab.
