Subject: Tbar keys fit 33s IP: Logged
Message: It is possible to fit 33s without body lift or suspension lift. I had a local garage (my uncle) install Tbar keys from total performance and got between 2-3inches of front end lift. No wheel spacers or body blocks and I mounted BFG AT/KO 285/75/16 (actual size is 32.8x11.4 from BFG website) on stock wheels.
The ride is definitely more stiff than before but still comfortable. I did do minor trimming of the plastic liner inside the wheel well and the front faring. I made a tapered cut removing about an inch of the front faring with a 4" grinder and polished it out with a Dremmel. No rubbing even at full lock out with full compression of A arm.
I have not experienced any "gear searching" that others have described as long as my overdrive is off. I should mention that I live in South Jersey so the terrain here is very flat.
I have a 2001 quad cab 4.7L 4x4 AWD 3.55 gears.

Message: Most 33's are 33x12.50, which is wider than what you say fits - just don't want to see anyone misled here...

Message: I am not misleading anyone - just read the numbers for what they are. This is why I gave EXACT measurements from the manufacturers website regarding the specific dimensions of the tire as opposed to using a generic conversion table. Furthermore, a 12.50 wide tire may/may not fit - I don't know. I only said that my tire is 11.4
It would be more accurate to say that most 33s are not exactly 33.0 - some are 32.5, some 32.6 some 32.8 and some 33.1
There are several manufacturers that produce numerous tires that may be either wider or more narrow than 12.50" for a 33" tire. For example, BFG AT/KO tires (I'm lazy and I have that info right in front of me)
285/75R16/D 32.8x11.4 on 8" rim
285/75R16/E 33.0x11.3 on 8" rim
295/75R16/D 33.2x11.5 on 8" rim
305/70R16/D 33.0x12.2 on 9" rim
33x12.50R16.5/D 32.6x12.4 on 9.75" rim
Bottom line: research EXACT dimensions of your specific tire as specified by the manufacturer so you know what complications you may face.

Message: The only true 33 you listed was the 33x12.5R16.5. When people say 33's, they are talking about the inch designation tires. Not the metric sizes you listed with equivalencies. Most of those are wider than what you got to fit, as Kowalski pointed out.

Message: Let me ask you a question. Why is the only "true 33" that I listed the 33x12.5R16.5?
Is it because that was the only size listed in standard size (inch designation) and not metric sizes?
What you call the only "true 33" actually measures 32.6". The metric size I installed measures 32.8" - now you tell me which one is closer to a "true 33". I will agree that neither is exactly 33.00" but both are commonly accepted as 33's.
As for the width, I specifically said 11.4" - how is that misleading? Don't read into it. A tire of a certain diameter does not always have a preset width. I deliberately listed EXACT specifications from the manufacturer regarding tire size so anyone thinking about doing this would have a solid idea of what would work.
It really is quite simple - just look at the numbers

Message: Yes ! "33s" commonly refers to the inch designation tires. Not the metric designations. Some people will just pay more attention to the title of your post, and mistakenly think something like a 33x12.5 15 will fit. You guys with the metric size tires might want to believe you are running 33s, but its just a similar height tire with a narrower width.
