Subject: Stock and not so stock... expert advice? IP: Logged
Message: What is the biggest tire I can fit on a 03 w/ 16" rims. I am getting a body lift but my front tires wont be able to hold out. I was thinking of going 285/75R16 in the back, what do you think?
Stock tire size: 255/70R16 (30.6" high)
Other sizes I can get w/ the tire I am looking at:
265/75R16 (31.8" high)
285/75R16 (33" High)

Message: I'm guessing that you have a 4x4, if i'm right then crank the torsion bars a little and go for the 285s they will look a heck of a lot better once you get the body lift and they shouldn't rub, at least not bad enough to do any harm to anything.

Message: I have a 2wd. :( I just bought some new tires which are 255/70/r16 but I am thinking of selling my stock rims and my brand new tires. I am now looking at 305/70R16 or 285/75R16. which one will fit w/ my 3" body?

Message: All I can tell you is that it took a 3in suspension lift on my 4x4 that started 2-3in higher than your 2wd to fit the 33x12.50-15s on mine. Both the sizes you are looking at are roughly 33in tall just the width is different, the 285s are about 11.3in wide the 305s are about 12.2. The 285s will fit better but honestly I don't think either one of them will work but I don't have too much experience with 2wds.
Hope I helped good luck!

Message: 2004 4x4.
265/75-16 with no lift clears the front fender liner with 1/8 inch to spare.

Message: 265s (32in) might fit on your 4x4 as well as the 33s fit on mine but his 2wd is roughly 5-6in lower than mine, right now, and still 2-3in lower after the body lift, and he wants to put the same height tire on his. So like i said good luck!
It would be a very good idea if you could borrow a 33in tall tire, from a friend or a tire store, and try to fit it inside of your wheelwell to get an idea if they will fit before you buy them.
