Message: Has anyone bought an exhuast system from ebay, cat back and installed on a 2001 dak 4.7 4wd 3" body lift. how hard was it? Did spare tire have to be removed? Any modifications? Im looking at duel split exhaust w/flowmaster for $190.00 Exhuast shop wants $600.00. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: I installed a bolt on kit on the same truck as you. It wasn’t a Flowmaster however they are all similar in design. A sawsall is the only tool you may need to cut the exhaust to the right length after the cat. Other than that the pieces just slip together and you use the factory rubber hangers to hang the new exhaust. Going with the split rear you will probably have to add some extra hangers for the driver’s side exit. All in all if you’re handy with some basic tools, you'll be fine. Exhaust shops charge way more on labor if you don’t buy the kit from them.

Message: Thanks for the tips. Looking under the truck it appears that the tail pipe on the drivers side would hit the spare tire. I guess I'll take a chance. $600.00 from the exhaust shop is crazy.
