Subject: Body Lift and Frame Question?
IP: Logged

Message:
Since truckin suspension is a flop, I want to get a 3in body lift on 33s to hold me over.
My question is can you see the frame a whole lot? Does it look ugly? And anyone with a Body Lift please tell me about your good and bad experiences. thanks

Look at my pics and judge for yourself. Just click on the flag. Also, look at Blizzards web site and Viper's. Links are on their profiles. I am very happy with mine.

No problems at all with mine. But I had an expert installer. Thanks again Hawk! Trailer hitch looks fine, exhaust pipe looks right...before the body lift I always thought my exhaust pipe looked too close to the body, like it would hit the body if it moved at all on its hangers.

In short, I'm really happy with mine.

Thanks for your replys.

I am going to get a 15x8 wheel and want that wide stance look. What would the lowest amount of backspacing be so i get little or no rubbing?

I'm concerned about backswing too. I was looking at the MTR 33x12.5's too and noticed that they com in 16in rims, but the backswing is a little higher. I think NotHighEnough and I are looking for the same look.

BTW, I just installed the 3" Perf Acc lift and I think the Daks look nice with the 3" Body lift...not too much frame. Plan a good day for the install and get ready to teach yourself some new words...you'll be glad you did it. I'm going to post a full description of the intall and pics once I ge tthe tires...wanna show the finished product.

you always have to plan ahead though... i had been thinking about doing a body lift on mine, and now i'm glad i didn't, because i just bought a fifth wheel camper trailer. i'm not an expert, but since it bolts through the bed and to the frame, i don't think it would've worked if i had a body lift, and that would've been no good, lol. ok, just felt like saying that, chances are you're not going to be towing anything like that, so you should be fine. i'll stop rambling now. =)

I recently purchased a 2002 club cab SXT 4X4.
I've been all over the net trying to find a 3" lift kit for the 2002. It seems the only kit that comes close is the performance acc. kit, but only goes up to year 2001.
Does anyone know if this kit will still work for the 2002? Changes in frame or other areas by Dodge?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!
P.S... You guy's have a great site!
I think you won another member!!!!!!

I can't see why a 2001 kit wouldn't fit a 2002. I could be wrong, but let me throw this out there:

97-99 4X4's: all had the same engine availability; all had the recirculating ball steering; all had the 4X4 shifter attached to the T-case.

00 4X4's: 4.7 replaces 5.2; rack and pinion replaces recirculating ball; 4X4 shifter with different pattern attaches to the body and uses a linkage to operate the T-case; interior identical to 97-99 except for 7000 rpm tach (4.7) and the headlight switch is different (twist the knob rather than pull the knob).

01-02 4X4's: same engines as 00; same steering as 00; switch to 16 inch wheels for the optional wheel and tire package; 4X4 shifter becomes a dash switch; all new interior for 01 carried over unchanged to 02.

Is that about right?

Oh and wasn't there a change somewhere in there for the front bumper mounts? I'm thinking 97-99 are the same, and 00-02 are the same but the two groups aren't interchangeable.

Thanks for the input!!!
I contacted performance Acc., they simply say that they have not prototyped the 2002 yet...no answers.
I think I'm gonna go for it.
I'll keep you posted regarding what I run into.
Maybe some pics along the way.
Hey... somebody's gotta do it right?
This truck is dying for 3 more inches.
Write back if you feel inclined!!!!!

Thanks for your help!

Happy lifting!

FWIW, the front bumper mounts on my wifes 99 4x4 Durango and my 00 DAk are the same. I think the bumper changes were also an 01 change.

If I remember correctly the frame up front was widened abit so the mounts are alittle differen't. Hence the reason some people that got my tow hook brackets has some minor problems with the fit.

My grill guard from my truck fit perfectly onto my wifes Durango. Thats why I think it was 01 that the changes were done. Everything on ours is the same except the steering and the front axles.
