Subject: need help with more clearance IP: Logged
Message: i have a 1998 2wd dakota and i have a 2 inch fabtech with a 3 inch
body lift . i put 2 inch coil spacers in the front and add a leafs in
the back but the spacers down give lift at all unless you put them
under the coil. i need help getting more clearance in the front for
some 35 12.5 r15 bfg mud's. does any one have any other
suggestions as to what i could do do get some more room up
front?
also i would suggest putting in the shackle lift instead of the add a
leafs in the rear it would be less of a hasle.

Message: the spacer is not gonna do anything . All you will gain is compressing the hell out of the spring and have the truck ride on the up travel stops ............. Get the fabtech a arms and 3" body lift and will clear 33" . Can I see a pic of your truck ???? Also do you have aftermarket rims ????

Message: how much lift would i need to clear 34's in your opinion? i ve seen
a truck same as mine with just a body lift and it cleared 33's no
problem. i was just wondering isnt a 4x4 just like 2-3 inches
higher than a 2wd same make?

Message: There is a difference, the 2wd front suspension is coil springs, the 4wd have torsion bars instead. Also you kinda of answered your own question, a 4wd with a 3" body lift clears 33's, a 2wd being 2-3 inches lower needs say 5" of total lift to clear that same size tire.

Message: 6" more, stock with 3" = 4x4
stock with 3" sus plus 3" body = 4x4 with 3" lift
