Subject: Broken truck IP: Logged
Message: have a 2000 QC 4.7 w/3" rancho lift. I have broken 2 front difs at the mounting points (there are 3). I do wheel my truck hard (not anymore!!LOL). It happens because the right side (always the right side) CV joint brakes and then binds up at the dif and snaps the aluminum housing at the mounting points on the of the pumkin. The joint always brakes at the dif, not at the wheel. And it doesn't "brake" per say. The tri pod bearings slip out of the "cup" that they are in. What I need to find out and fix is why this CV joint keeps braking??? I'm not a mechanic so I might not be using the correct names for the parts. There are alot more specifics I give give at request if needed. Has anyone seen a CV joint do this in this manor?? If so, do you have a lift?? I can not post pic's on this site, but would try to e mail some to someone who things they can help.
