Subject: Torsion Bar keys IP: Logged
Message: Ok so buying torsion bar keys to get an extra 2" isn't going to happen because of the bump stops right? I would like to get an add a leaf or some blocks for the rear but I've already cranked my T-Bars a little. I know if I add a few inches to the rear the front is going to be lower even if I were to max it out. Is there any other way of getting a couple more inches out of the front? I already have a 3" bl...just trying to look for a more inexpensive way to lift because I can't afford a suspension lift right now. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Message: Adam,
You have just answered your own questions. Your next "step up" is a suspension lift.

Message: Bump,
When cranking torsion bars you loose droop?
Using torsion keys would still give you the inch or so lift, but keep stock wheel travel?
Is this correct?

Message: Aren't torsion keys more of a Chevy deal ? All I had to do to get almost 2" lift in front was to crank up the torsion bars, no keys needed.

Message: Well you could crank the hell out of t bars but the problems is once you crank over 2 inches the angles on you cv joint gets too steep. so then you need Diff drop brackets. And then your a arms wont line up. So then you need upper and lower a arm drops. Then your steering arm wont line up. then you need steering arm drops. then you put too much load on your torsion bars so then you need extended keys. And then you bought your self the front end of a torsion bar suspension lift :p

Message: Spend some time under your truck, learning what's under there. If you have any mechanical aptitude at all, you will figure it out. If you can't figure it out, leave it the hell alone.

Message: All you gotta do is get under there and look. You'll be able to figure it out. It's a decent sized bolt that you got to turn. Just make sure that when you do it make sure both sides are even and then lift to your desired height. Put some jack stands under the truck so you take some weight off of it. Would be pretty damn hard with it just sitting on the ground trying to lift them.

Message: can we get torsion bar keys?
my t-bars are underrated (v-6 bars holding up a v-8) and are old
its a royal PAIN to get them out of the a-frame and expensive to buy the ones made for a v-8

Message: Quality stuff is available on ebay; also junk. I've got a lot of good deals on decent stuff there. Just like anywhere else, you must be aware of what you're buying.
I'd go for the v8 torsion bars myself though, no matter where you are looking at getting the keys.
