Hey guys I have a 98 dak. 4x4 auto. with a 3 inch PA BL. I have recently had problems with the parking mechanism. When I through it in park, it doesnt engage. Dont know what could be the problem, hopefully you all do. The whole shifter has been F-in up alot lately, any ideas?

Did you forget to extend your shift linkage 3" when you installed the lift? If you did extend it, you may have 1 or more shift linkage bushings worn out or missing. I had a couple of bushings completly worn out in my '92. This was scary when I found out because the truck was running and it was partially in reverse. I was quick enough to stop the truck before a 2005 Mustang GT met my hitch.

Yeah I def. put the 3" extender in. So Im guessing its these shift linkage bushings that are either gone or worn out. What kind of price are we looking at in order to get it fixed...? and who can fix something like that other than the dealer? Thanks guys..

If you managed to install the extension for the shift linkage, you can definitely replace the bushings. The 2 main bushings cost $5 and $8 (canadian price). There are 3 other smaller bushings that cost $5. I replaced all of them because I was right there. The linkage you extended comes down and connects to a thicker shaft that runs horizontal. It is this shaft that had the 2 large worn out bushings on my truck. Check to see if you can move this shaft up and down, if so replace them. Took me 1/2 an hour to replace all of the bushings. Not tough, but can be alittle dirty.
