Message: You don't have to get a alignment but you could wear your tires faster without one. It is recommended to do one everytime you get new tires, as for doing the alignment yourself , don't, setting camber on the vehicle requires some special equipment to measure the degree of slope, your better off to spend your money on the alignment than to have to replace your tires in 15000 km. you'll be fine if you crank the bars but leave some room to play on the adjustor,

Message: My bars have been cranked for over 5,000 miles with zero problems, and the tires are fine. Go for it, but like he said^^ don't crank them to the limit.

Message: I don't have a picture, but if you follow the torsion bar all the way back where it mounts to the frame, you'll see a key. The key is what holds/adjusts the bar. The key also has a hexagonal hole in it that the bar is positioned in. On the inside of the key, towards the centre of the truck, you'll see a beefy bolt. On my '92 it has a 15/16th inch head. This is the bolt that needs to be tightened. Some people say to have the front wheels off the ground when tightening and some say otherwise. Myself, I raised the front end off the ground. Also, I found the first turns of the bolt do the most adjusting. Remember that doing this adjustment will create a harsher ride (more preload tension on the bar) and decrease or virtually eliminate suspension droop(rebound travel). Make sure you get an alignment. The toe will be out the most, which is the greatest tire wearing angle. Good luck.

Message: in theory if you crank up the bars your tie rods will not extend themselvs for the longer distance they cover and will mess up your "toe in" alignment
the camber should remain the same, but if you crank them up alot your wheels will point in at the front

Message: Caster, camber and toe will be affected by adjustments made to the torsion bars. But in all likely hood, toe will be the only one out of the "manufactures specified range". Unless of course you had an alignment issue before the adjustment. Toe is by far the greatest tire wearing angle.

Message: Besides toeing in, it will throw the camber off, the upper control arms are shorter and at more of an angle than the lower control arm. As you crank the bars, the geometry of the arms will pull camber in.

Message: here is prolly the best one i have
recent pics are off becuase the front dropped from the extra weight of the v-8 and im too cheap to spend the moneies for heavier t-bars just for my $hitbox
