Message: Dang Joe, that really sux. This is going to sound Mickey Mouse, but when is the last time you checked the fluid level? If your tranny gets down even 1/2 or a whole quart, stuff starts to happen. Gears will slip and stuff like that. Every time I have had tranny "problems", I find out later that my fluid leak got the best of me, and sure enough I'm down about 2 quarts!
Your problem hopefully isnt a big problem. My advice is take it to at least 2 places and get different opinions and price quotes!

Message: Hey man, thanks for the help. I had it towed to a tranny shop this morning. They took at look at it, tried to put it into gear, and nothing. I think its shot. He gave me a quote of about $850 for the rebuild, plus more for anything thats broken inside the tranny. I am also have the TransGo shift kit thrown in there as well. Its only like another 100 bucks to have em do that. So tomarrow I should recieve a call from them after they dropped the tranny and then they wil knoe more of what happened. The Dak doesnt run in any gear. Totally like it in N all the time. Not even a hint of catching. Another guy I talked to here told me that my tranny sounds shot. Then my cousin Jeep CJ8 Scrambler did the same clicken before it died and was rebuilt. Not looken good. But Ill keep ya posted. Thanks for the adice too. Have a good one.

Message: From what they told me, the bands broke, the TQ came apart and damaged the pump. So A whole rebuild is happening, along with all the spragw, belts, planetaires, TQ, pump, clutch/pressure plates, etc. They are also installing the TransGo Performance stage 2 Shift kit, and a Hayden Tranny cooler. All for a mere $2K! Its alot but im in a spot an have no truck for work or anything. So AAmco is doing the work to be done Wed. Maybe could have saved a bit going somewhere else, but the trouble of moving it was not worth it. Later man.
Thanks for the insite.

Message: SB, the shift kit isnt a big thing. Basically it takes the play out Auto trannys. Donno what you got but in my dak, the auto tranny really looses momentum between shifts. This TransGo kit removes that and allows the tranny to act faster and firmer. It also can help reduce wear on the tranny by reducing the time of the friction in te clutch and stuff. Well see what happens. Tomarrow is the day...

the shift kit is nice. Havent really tried it good yet. Gonna let the tranny wear a bit before it gun it. But it holds he shift till approx 3200 rpms in 1st to 2nd, and about 3K for 2nd to 3rd. Then regular after that. After the $2075.48, it better run good. Shifts into gear nicely and through greas nicely. Give more update when I have really drove it more.
But as of now, everythings A OK.

Message: Hi all. Yeah I know I could have gotten a new tranny for around that, but I needed my truck asap. It was longer to wait on SHP and all. I also inquired about a 727 or 904 but there were issues with the drive shaft length and more cash to do the custom stuff. But I had No other ride to go with. So I was kinda stuck. But thanks for the info just the same. I also have other people tell me that it was a toss up weather a new tranny or a rebuilt tranny was better. ???
About the rmps, those reading are all taking it slow. I am alittle hestiant about dropping the hammer on it right now. That is under slow acceleration. It will probbly be alot more under heavy acc. But Im gonna put a few hundred miles on it before i go hard. But well see what happens.
I am thinking real hard about putten some 4.10s in my rear soon. I want that off the line jump. The top speed will effect me sometimes but not as uch as the city driving and messem with people. Any input?
Thanks Joe E.

I got an exhaust leak taken care of too. Header blew it out. So now I have a good sounding system again. I am now worken on getten my acel 8.8mm plug wires cut to size. And get the heat wrap on it and stuff. Also got a brass cap/rotor to go on.
I had a 4 hr drive from home to my college today. I ran my ac most of the way and couldnt get my dak over 75. Then I turned it off and it busted out with more HP and I was crusin at almost 90. That ac puts too much drag on our engines. And its like 88 degs. here now. To hot for this time of year.
wellman, I gotta go. Talk to ya later buddy. Hows your truck runnen???

Id recomend it to everyone when they do some tranny work. Way better than stock. I need to take it in for the check up. Maybe tomarrow. Not school or work. Yeah!!!!
I just found some rust on my truck too. Under the drivers door. In the kick panel. So Ill have to bust it all out, and get some bondo or something. Its just thing after thing. And paying for school going 3 semisters a year is killen me. No play money for my truck. It sucks bad. Well, enough whining. Talk to you guys later. SB, get me a pict of those Hellas. Id love to see them.

from JC whitney you can get a new rocker pannel and weld or pop rivet that over the hole after you cut away all the rust if its that bad, i think i need to do that to the drivers side this summer
my truck it getting REALLY doggy, i think the engine is starting to die
wonder if i can convince my parents i dont want a new truck, i jsut want a new engine and tranny (v-8)
i need to start researching it though

Message: Hey man, sounds good. Yeah I was washing my truck and hit a rough spot. Looked under the door, and the rocker has a hot dog size spot thats gotta be fixed. I think Im gonna try to grind it out. And bondo it. I have another spot by the windshield like a nickle size to do. Its not bad though. It will be during my summer break from college.
Thanks for the info on the panels tho. I might end up doing that if it further along than I thought.
On that engine. Just searcharound the net and stuff. Theres alot of these older 318s flying around out there. On the tranny, donno what you do driving wise most of the time, but if its alot of highway stuff, dont go 727 or 904. Gas will suck. Better to get a OD tranny but if your not worried bout it,, the above would go well. Strong too.
Well, later man. Got work to do. Have a good one.

Message: yeah i do highway driving a lot, so i would enjoy good milage
my neighbor has a 96 4x4 full size ram that gets 18 mpg in town, that woul dbe sweet
and my uncle gets the same with his 93 318 ram
they both have 0D
LOL, and we had a Ramcharger with a 727 and a 12 passenger van with a 727
8 mpg, hooya
thats driving it nice
and i agree, STRONG as heck trannies that WONT DIE, but i dont want the mileage that goes with them, if i used the truck for off road purposes mostly i would defanitly go with the 727
but a 230+ hp 318 with a 3 speed+OD would be nice
i think anything from a 92-96 318 with OD trranny and all the witring would be nice and easy to get in
