Message: Hey all you Gen l er's I'm new to the site and have some questions! I've been posting stuff on the "v-6 " site and don't get very relevant responses, I think the oldest other person there is a '93.
I have a basically stock '88 4x4 w/3.9,AT and 8ft bed, 225x75x15's except for the Bosch Platinum 4 plugs. I'm looking for a couple things...I'm about to swap out my rad because of some overheating issues and I'm curious about 180 deg t-stats. Jet makes one for the 89 and up but I didn't think there was any difference from 88-89.
Also, I want to get the gas mileage up and after I replace the O2 sensor (stuck in middle position) I've been thinking about a K&N or Air Hog or maybe CAI (can't find a CAI for this year). I thought about cutting holes around the circumference of the stock air box to allow more air to flow into it any thoughts on any of this stuff? How about the tornado air? they have an application for 88 and claim 10-25% better mileage.
Oh and I'm going to change the tires out to BFG AT TA's 30x9.50.

Message: there are a few gen1s out there, granted some of them have 360s in them but oh well
ive never looked for a 180 thermostat so i dont know
the o2 sensor is ~$80 and is very easy to replace, it plug is on the pass side right by the firewall and it runs back and is in front of the cat, unscrew it, put the new one in and plug it in
and nobody makes a CAI for our year trucks, i just put either a round plate that is jsut larger than the air filter on the existing setup or ripped the air damn thing off the front grill going up into the air intake and put in a drop in K&N for i have kind of a Ram Air thing, but not really
good luck

Message: Thanks Super-bee, I'll let you know how it goes. As for gas mileage, my old mill is currently delivering consistent 17.5 mpg commuting/in town. I see alot of Magnum guys squeazing 20+ out of their rigs though. I'm hoping with the new o2 I should get more.

i just wanted to post that i updated my page...
finally installed my 3" BL, she looks too small with the 31s now...
http://www.sounddomain.com/ride/605315
so come check her out guys...
superbee, hows the swap comin? im still plannin the attack on mine. i have a few other things to work out first (finish the body work and paint, 33s and new rims mainly)
and damn... 17.5 mpg? im lucky when i get 15. but then again, the 31s really kill. im runnin a few mods to try to boost it back up, but mainly the mods are gettin the power back up (full 2.5" exhaust, hi flow cat, 40 series, K&N filter, platinum plugs, hotter wires, hotter coil, and a few other things) i just hate to dump a load of cash into the motor when its comin out next summer for the 318.
