Subject: I got a Dakota too!! IP: Logged
Message: Hello fellas, I just got a 2004 Dakota quadcab AWD/4x4 myself (red) and was looking for a way to lift it as well. I cannot seem to find many suspension lifts on the internet. I see you are doing body lifts? How much are they and how hard were they? Where did you get them? What tires can you use with the additional lift and how much more lift do you get? I went to the accessory shop and the jerk wanted like 1500 dollars for a 3 inch body lift! Thanks

Message: Sounds like a nice truck, mines an 03 QC 4x4(AWD) and I can tell you we are limited with what we can do. You can go with a 3" bodylift or some guys buy the 02 Rancho lift which will require you to change to some 2002 components.
I went the inexpensive route and did the 2" torsion bar/2" block lift. You can get 2"s of lift for only $40. I am going to stay with this until a better lift comes out for our gen.
Here are some pics of the 2" lift if you are interested.

Message: NICE!! I like it alot! Where do I get the blocks? So I could go 3 inches but you went 2 inches? How do they install? I have fooled with torsion bars before on a van I had, 2.5 turns? Let me know thanks

Message: You can get the blocks at most local auto parts stores, I got mine at Autozone, they are just generic 2" lifting blocks.
To lift with the torsion bars, first measure from the top of your wheel to the bottom of your fender in the middle. Then jack the front of the truck until the tires are hanging. Crank an even amount of turns on both sides, the number of turns will vary on each truck, but mine took like 7 full turns on each side. Lower the truck back down and drive it a mile or so to settle, then remeasure to see how much lift was made, repeat this process until you get the 2"s.
Oh and I am running 265/75/16s, which are almost a 32" tire.
