Sorry Bud. They will rub at the rear portion of the fender opening when turning, especially if the wheels have much of an offset(backspacing) change from stock. You can trim your fender, but that is just going to open up the double wall of it. Unfortunately Gen IIs are entirely different in their wheel opening compared to the Gen IIIs.

Now you "may" get by with the 33 if it is a 10.5 wide like BFG all terrain, as long as it is on a near stock wheel. But even with the 3" body lift and a bit of T-bar cranking, I have a feeling you will still be cutting into tires.

I have a 95 ext cab V8. 92-96 are the same. Speaking for myself only:
Trailmaster 4” suspension lift
Performance Accessories 2” body lift
Glassworks Unlimited pre-runner fenders
Trimmed the metal “point” at the lower front of the cab
Tweaked the T-bars enough to pitch the front end about an inch-and-a-half (pre-runner style)

This was done to run 33x10.5s BFG A/Ts on 15x8 Eagle Alloy 589s (3.25 backspacing per Trailmasters recommendation). If I stuff a tire into the fenderwell while the steering is cranked I still rub (outer rear of fenderwell/ firewall). Not horribly, but I still rub.

Not trying to discourage you, just letting you know there is some work involved.

There is a “possible” option:
Fore-go the suspension lift
Use a 3” body lift
Crank the torsion bars
Use 2” lift blocks in the rear
Stay with a stock/ near stock wheel (specification) I would say a 4” off-set wheel would be a happy medium
Mount a 33x10.5 tire

Your tire brands are very limited in this size, but it may just work and save you about $2K in the process.

The real problem with rubbing is with the front end. When you use a wheel with more backspacing (making it stick out) the tire will rub at the rear of the wheel opening, regardless of how big the tire is. When you use a wider tire on a stock size wheel it will rub the frame when the steering is cranked. I originally had 31x10.5 Kelly Safaris on my stock wheels and they rubbed (slightly) on the front of the frame.

Dare to be Different… Dare to be Dakota.

Anybody else to add, confirm, or call BS?

Adjust the torsion bars. They are the long round pieces of metal that go from the lower control arm rearward alongside the transmission. There are adjustment bolts where they attach at the rear. By tightening those bolts you can raise the front end. Walt's home page (hope you don't mind Walt) http://www.walt-n-ingrid.com/Dakota.html. He has very good photos of where this is on your rig. Be careful that you don't raise the front to the point that the upper bumpstops get mashed. Most rigs will be able to get 1-2 inches of lift by adjusting these.
