Subject: 32 x 11.50 on my 95 fit fine :) IP: Logged
Message: On stock wheels no less. yeah, it's a touch of a wide tire for the wheel, but when they are that wide the bead seats easy LOL
just some cranked torsion bars so far. it sits a hair lower in the bck, but I do have a fiberglass cap on there for the winter to. I am going to measure tomorrow and either install 1 or 2 inch blocks to level it out.
no rub lock to lock, but under good compressions it will tag the fender a little. I am thinking a 2" body lift should be sufficient, and Mako seems to make a pretty complete kit for the price. Does anyone have pictures of a body lifted 91-96? I'd like to see how it looks around the bumpers, frame, etc.

Message: Good to hear that they fit!! I have a 94 Dak with a torsion crank, 2" rear lift blocks and a 2" body lift. I'm still running the 31x10.5's I've had on there for years, but I'm planning to upgrade to 32's or 33x10.5's this summer or next spring. check it out at my cardomain page

That's my 91 with a 3"bl, the current tires on there are for winter they are 235s. my fenders sit at 38" at the highest point all around, i think the front is alittle higher.

Message: Different tires have different actuall sizes... My 31X10.50 are actually only 30.5" tall compared to what they say they are, it al depends on what kind of tires they are, They probably are not actually 11.50 they're probably only 11"

Message: Pauls exactly right, different tires measure out different,my 32 Super Swampers are the same height as 33 bfg mud terrains,I put the two tires side by side.plus the edges of the tire are very aggressive and stick out, that coupled with 3.5 inch backspacing causes rub to the corners of the fender well, also the type of offroad driving with extreme articulation i need more clearance than normal street or light trail driving.an afterthought would have been maybe 4.25 backspacing might have been a little better and an allterrain tread pattern might have fit better but thats not what i wanted, not to mention you got as good a shot at hitting the lottery as you do making the maximum tire size we all want actually fit perfect with no rub even going crazy offroad, mines not a daily driver so i can cut and hack away what i need, right now they still rub.So if someone asks me if 32 will fit....."in my case not even close"Better safe than sorry,

Message: If you're not afraid to cut the rear of the front fenders, max out your torsion bars, and can put up with the frame rubbing on tighter turns, you can fit 33X12.50R15 BFG M/T's. This is what i've done to my '92 Dakota. I used '97-'99 15X8" Dakota wheels. I had to cut/hammer the rear of the front fender all the way back to the firewall/floor. Hammer the inner steel fender back to the firewall (you'll see what you have to do and it can be done neatly). I had to grind down the head of the front caliper banjo bolts because the wheels just barely made contact with them. Minor trimming of the front plastic bumper valance(sp) was needed. In the rear all what was need was minor trimming of the fender flare where it wraped around the inner parts of the fender(front and rear of the fender, it's that tight). The front tires do clear the frame perches of the cab mounts just fine. Obviously the front tires do rub the the front of the frame on tight turns, but it doesn't hinder the turning circle much and the frame is smooth there so you're not going to chew up the tires. That is the only place they rub even at full flex and max turn. I must admit that the ride with the torsion bars maxxed out kinda sucks and it's kinda rough on the truck. So I just purchased a 2" Performance Accessories body lift and Bushwacker fender flares so I can bring the front back down an inch or so. Wheel offset is the key here. If you get a wheel with too much negative offset (or too little positive offset) you are not going to fit a big tire. I believe the '97-'99 15X8" Dakota wheels have 5 or 5 1/2" of back spacing so that means 1 to 1 1/2" positive offset. So remember, Rubbing's Racing" and "Go Big or Go Home!"

Message: Going big can also break your truck... Moser sounds like you've done alot of work just to get one more inch of ground clearance. Either way if it works it works.

Message: Remember the tires are also wider. I was tired of the nose of the truck sinking in everything due to the weight of a cast iron V8. Sure you can't go crazy with the throttle with a 7 1/4" front diff and cv shafts. You can't expect to seriously off-road and never break anything. I must say when wheeling with my buddy and his Land Rover Discovery, it's almost amusing to see him have trouble with ground clearance around his steering drag links. He has a 2" OME suspenion lift and can barely fit 32X10.50" tires. Remember, "Land Rover, the greatest 4X4 on the planet". I guess that might hold true if you never take them off a gravel road, hehe. Actually, the modifications i did to my truck including the cuts, hammering and the torsion bar adjustment took me less than 1 1/2 hours. And it actually looks pretty good.
