Subject: Driveshaft Issues On a Rancho 3" Lift IP: Logged
Message: Hello
I have an 02 Dakota with the Rancho 3" lift on it and was wondering if anybody else on here has had issues with the front driveshaft.
The problem I'm having is the rubber boot/seal that protects the rear cv joint on the front driveshaft has failed twice now. Of course when the rubber gets torn/ripped like it is now the grease flings out and you get moisture/dirt in it and it eventually fails. You can't service the rear joint and you have to buy the whole drive shaft.
Do you think the lift is whats causing the problem...
Thanks!!

Message: I've worn out my driveshaft already too...You can rebuild the cv joint but it costs about as much as a whole new driveshaft-about $300. So I actually got a new driveshaft at the junkyard for $75. My cv's worn out because my truck used to see offroad when it had 33's on, plus it has about 90k on it. It shouldn't be the lift.
How deep can that pond possibly be?
