Subject: T-Bar Maxed from factory?? IP: Logged
Message: I finished my BL and ordered new 285/75/16s this week. I was going to level the front as the drivers side was 3/4 inch lower than passenger side. yes, checked tire tread and pressure on level ground. checked it several times but, The T-Bar only has about 3/8 inleft on the threads...does this mean the factory clocked the t-bar wrong or just cranked them up to clear the 265/70s that came on the truck? any Ideas.

Message: How much thread you have means nothing really...if your bars are a little weaker than others, the factory would have needed to crank them farther to get spec.
Just crank it till its level or you run out of room...

Message: OK here comes the goofy question. Got a 92 v8 ext cab, if the torison bars are maxed out, does that affect the drivability or will it cause any other premature wear on them?

Message: Judge the height by the bump stops. Stay a little bit away from them or your ride will become very rough.

Message: MetalHead,
Here's some excellent light reading on torsion bars.
Lots of good info here. It's a GM oriented site I came across when searching (unsuccessfully) for some heavy duty torsion bars for my Dakota.
