Subject: axle flip ?? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 QC and the back is really low. This makes it rough when trying to pull a trailer. I was looking and the axle is bolted on the top of the springs instead of underneath. Do I need a kit or something and/or alingnment afterward to bolt the axle underneath?

Message: sounds like you need an axle flip kit... i dont know where you can get one by it self, but they come with most suspension lifts... call the guys at your nearest 4wheel parts, they might be able to help...

Message: Okay the guy at the off road shop said that I just need to buy the u-bolts for the 4wd and use them to flip the axle. He said the only difference is the plate that the bolts go through is different. Does this sound right?

Message: If you slap that on you'll probably want to crank up the torsion bars too. It'll level out the front end with the rear. Thats what I did until I can put a lift on. It gave me about 2 inches all around.

Message: If you do the spring over swap your gonna be getting probalbly close to 5 inchs of lift in the rear which means even with crankin the torsion bars your ass ends going to be sitting way hi

Message: Spike, the only way you'll pull 5" on the rear is by putting on an add-a-leaf, leaf spring drop brackets, or a spacer block. I did the axel swap, like I stated above, and I was lucky to get over 2". Actually, it might have been closer to 3" on the rear. If you crank the torsion bars and run some better suspesion, can push about 3" on the front as well. I, on the other hand, stuck to the stock Sport suspension and got about 2" on the front.

Message: I would take 5", but when I measured it, it looked like 3".
My back is lower than the front now, so it looks like I am going uphill! I need and inch just to get level, I really want the back to be a little higher than the front, so 2 or 3 would do it.
Thanks again!
