 Subject: EXT STEERING SHAFT OPTIONS???

i got 3in body lift, tb cranked, the steering shaft extension makes me nervous. just curious if anyone has put a aftermarket steering shaft instead of using the 3 inch extension. or if any make or model would fit.

First off, I wouldn't be concerned about the steering extension. I've had one in my '88 Dakota for close to 10 years and never had an issue with it. And I've wheeled the piss out of the truck. However, there is a guy floating around on these forums who was/is putting a small 4-cyl diesel into a Gen 3 Dakota. After installing a body-lift he too, had the same concern. After a bit of searching, he found the Jeep Cherokee has a steering shaft that's a bit longer and is a direct bolt-in replacement for the Dakota shaft.

oh right on thanks for the help. im gonna look into that. i thought id read that somewhere. my only concern was. my truck is an 03. so i had to drill a good amount to get that thing on. its tightend with loctite.
