Subject: Shift Problem. IP: Logged
Message: Ok I posted this a while ago and I'm gonna try again. I did a Body Lift a couple of months ago and after everythings put together and everything I can't shift out of 4hi. I can shift from 2hi - Neutral - 4lo but as soon as I put it in 4hi and I try to shift out my linkage just twists. No problem with the rest just getting out of 4hi. I can get in no problem but once i'm in theres no getting out unless I get under my truck and rip it off and shift it myself. I even bought a new linkage thinking that maybe it was just welded funny and the angle was off but the new one I got doesn't work either. and it's plenty long enough...I can go from a 3" spread to 6". Any ideas?

Message: Now after playing with the stupid thing for the past few hours I have an idea of what's wrong but no idea on how to fix the problem. The shifter and the piece that's connected to the transfercase are offset. Are they supposed to be because I could see if they were more aligned it would push against it better. No matter what I'vev done I get the same exact problem. It will either twist enough to move my shifter up but not my case or it just pops the linkage out of the bushing. This is killing me because I want to go play and cant because I'm not gonna get underm my truck just to switch gears everytime.
