Subject: 32" on 15x7 what back spacing? IP: Logged
Message: I've seen many people on this board saying 32" wheels will fit on a 15x7 rims with out rubbing if the stock wheels are used. But what is the backspacing on these stock 15x7 wheels? Will 4.25" be ok? Anyone tried this?

Message: Here's what I would do:
1. Jack up yer Dak.
2. Take off one wheel.
3. Measure the backspace.
How hard is that?

Message: Its pretty hard because i have the stock 16x8 wheels and i want to buy a set of 15" wheels with same or as close to back spacing as the stock 15x7 wheels.

Message: 15" rims won't clear your brakes...don't mess with daimlerchrysler's ingenuity. There's a reason they put 16" rims on your truck, and things are designed around that. Going to 15" rims would not be smart. The only possible reason I could think of is that tires are cheaper. But if youre talking 32's, cmon, they're not like 38's or 40's where the price difference is enormous! Theyre only 32's, so throw them on your 16X8 wheels. Why buy a set of rims when you already have some? Especially a different size?
How deep can that pond possibly be?

Message: I think a 15" wheel will clear the brakes. At least they will on my '01 4x4 Sport. The 16x8's were an option under the Tire and Handling Group. Otherwise they came with 15x7's. The brakes are the same. I was also looking into this swap and want to get the AR-767's. 15x8 with 5" of backspacing. Just about the only wheel I could find with the 6x4.5" bolt patern. And I do like the blacked out look. Then some 32" tires. Haven't decided which yet.
