Subject: 02 PA Body Lift vs 04 kit IP: Logged
Message: I installed a Perf. Acc. 3" body lift on my 2004 quad cab this past fall. It was the 2002 kit as there was no 2004 kit at the time. I'm wondering if anyone has bought the 2004 kit and compared it to the 2002 kit. I'm looking for any important differences.
Anything I should be worried about having used the 2002 kit on my 2004?

Message: can you post some pics, and did you run into any trouble with the lift i.e. custom fabrications?

Message: I did not have any trouble. I made a small bracket for the driverside brakeline where it attaches to the frame (near the upper A-arm) to give it a bit more slack. I used an old wire loom left over from my Chevy 350 days. I also relocated the spare tire winch above the frame so I could still use the stock tire crank hole. I'm still playing around with the lower radiator hose. You have to splice a steel tube into it to give it room to clear the fan. Last week a hose clamp failed and I blew the hose off. (Luckily no damage.)
I have a very pics at the yahoo site listed. I also modified a set of Manik side bars (actually the mounting brackets) so they would fit up to the body. Let me know if you have any other questions.
I e-mailed Perf. Acc. and they said there are a few differences in the new 2004 kit. The steering extension is one difference. They have not e-mailed back to let me know if I should change to the new one though.

Message: OK...I finally got the scoop. Got copies of both kits' directions and finally got confirmation from Perf. Acc. that there is a difference between the steering extensions. The 2004 kit uses an SE3000, which is shorter and looks to fit further down the lower shaft. I have pics of the 2 extensions if any one is interested. The rest of the differences are really no big deal. There are a few brackets that are different (mainly on the driverside brakelines...there are more brackets, and there are brackets for the air box...which I did not need since I have a 360 Intakez unit) and they also moved the sparetire winch above the mounting plate, as I did on my own.
By the way...the replacement shaft extension....$71.58....Holy crap, but I guess it is a safety issue. They said I could bind on uneven ground. I think they mean the u-joint could bind. Which I believe I have heard pop every once in a while.
