Message: Yes that will work. It would be the same thing as a 33x12.5 tire on a 8" wheel. A guy i used to know ran 35x12.5's on stock 7" wheels with no problems. I also ran 35x15.5 swamper sx's on 15x8 wheels no problems ever.

Message: i dunno.. when i had my tires [31x10.5s] mounted to my rims [15x8"] i talked to the guy about mounting another tire on an old rim [15x7"] for a spare. he said they wouldnt do it.
something about the tire wouldnt sit right on the rim because it was too narrow and it would put too much pressure on the side wall. but mind you, the was at NTB (national tire and battery), so who knows, theres about a 50% chance the guy knew what he was talking about.
go to a good tire dealer and talk to them, see what they say.
i think you should be able to do it, but your tires gonna look really tall and skinny, but if thats the look your going for, more power to you. if you put it on a wider rim like a 15x10", the tire will look fatter and shorter (since the side walls are farther apart from each other thus making the tire wider, but at the same time pulling it down in height a lil bit).
i know my tires look kinda funny on the 15x8" rims, they dont sit wide enough. im plan on upgrading to 15x10"s soon

Message: The standard is a 2-4" difference between the width of the wheel and tire. 12.5 on an 8 is fine. You can go bigger but you are stressing the sidewalls and not putting as much of that tread on the ground because you are forcing the tire to be taller than it is made to be.
