Subject: Best Susp lift IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I have been reading through all of the past threads, and have collected some GREAT info from everyone and I thank you for sharing!
But my situation is slightly different from what I've seen on here, unless I missed it.
I have 80 acres in the heavily wooded foothills of Missouri.
I have to deal with trees, mud, and big rocks.
So far, I think the IFS is the best for my situation.
I have a '99 Dakota Sport 4x4 318V8 with a 3" PA body lift and 33"x12.5"x15" TrXus tires on 15"x10" Rock Crawlers.
So far I am very happy, but would like a little more clearence for the suspension.
So in here lies my quest for 35" tires with a suspension lift.
I have seen three suspension lifts within my price range, but I'm not sure which one's are the best for durability.
So far I found a 4.5" susp lift from TS for $1400,
a 5.5" Tuff Country susp lift from JCWhitney for $1400,
and a 3" susp lift from 4wheelparts for $1400.
I figure by now, many of you that posted in the past have had susp lifts for a good long time.
Any comments on what YOU prefer and what has held up to a beating???
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!!!

Message: Based on the reputation I have seen, the order (from best to worst) goes like this :
3" suspension lift (assuming it's the one from Rancho)
5.5" Tuff Country suspension lift
4.5" Truckin Suspension lift (they have a horrible, terrible rep around here + very flimsy parts and just horrible over-all quality)

Message: get the rancho for sure. I have talked to a few folks who have the TC lift and although the lift is the highest it is not the best quality by far.

Message: Krash, go with the tuff country!!!!!!! Many people rip on this lift-the funny part is they don't even have it on their truck!!! I am a ASE Master Diesel truck technitian and I have a 99 Dak with this lift on for 1.5 years now. I installed it myself of course and had no problems at all. I am 22 years old and I do go mudding pretty hard with it during the summer months. I have seen trucks in person with the 3"Rancho and I will agree it looks like a well built kit but 3" barely seems worth it for $1400. You can get a full 6" out of the Tuff Country like I did if you swap out the included 3" blocks for 4" ($40)in the back- the included u-bolts with the kit are long enough for this and then crank the t-bars a bit extra for a full 6". It's sad so many people rip on this lift when they don't even own it or have anything first hand to compare it to. I was skeptacle at first just from all the bad rumors I heard about this lift but so glad I went with the Tuff Country 5.5" For anyone with a 97-99 Dak, this is the one to get, unless all you want is 3"-don't waste your money on a susp lift, just get a PA 3" body lift.

Message: Tim,
Well yours is the first testimony I've heard that actually had a good bit of real off road use.
I wish I had heard this from you 2 months ago LOL
I went with a 3" PA body lift and 3" Rancho Susp lift and it works great!
And since I'm a preferred member at 4wheelparts (basically I buy too much), I got the 3" rancho kit, set of 4 RS5000 Rancho shocks, and shipping, for $1398.00
I am running 35x12.5x15" TrXus tires on 15x10" Steel Rock Crawlers.
Haven't hit the trails yet, but it holds up to running over bodies pretty well ;)
One of the nice things about the Rancho kit was the VERY detailed instructions, all bolt on proceedure, and NO welding.
Only had to do some light grinding to remove the bump stops on the front.
How was yours on installation???
Would like to see what I'm missing...

Message: the PA body lift yes, the Rancho, don't think so.
The susp lift says 97-01 Dakota.
Not sure what would work best on yours.
Can't seem to find one for your truck on that site.
Do a search on the forums here, and see what the other '02-up dakotas bought for thier susp lift.
