Subject: Torsion Bar replacement? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, still looking at different suspension lifts.
Talked to my boss yesterday and he said when we went to lift his 4x4 Chevy, he replaced the torsion bars with some aftermarket ones and it lifted it like 2".
Is there a place out there that makes replacement torsion bars for 4x4 Dakotas?

Message: Not that I know of but you should be able to turn your stock ones up till they hit the bump stops. That should give you 1 1/2" -2" lift like you want. many people on these boards including myself have done this. So buying aftermarket ones if they made them would be just a waste unless your t-bars are tired and not up to it.

Message: Would a worn torsion bar cause a heavy metalic squealing going over bumps or bouncing? I have this problem on my 97 Dak and have checked idler arm, ball joints and control arm bushings.
