Message: I’ve been reading and searching a lot of the postings. I could really use some help. I almost had BL put on at a local 4x4 shop but, got scared because of the posts. Rather than restate some posts, here is my question. I have a 2002 QC with the tire and wheel pkg 265/70/16 GY Wranglers. I can get a set of Dunlop Mud Rover 315/75/16 at cost. The guy said they are 34.5 tall depending on the rim pull?? Since the stock tires are 30.6 it would seem that 3in BL would clear. Thoughts please.

Message: Personally, I don't think there is anyway that those tires are going to fit without some major extreme cutting. I have 33" BFGs that are actually about 32" inches tall with the 3" BL and cranked torsions bars and I mine barely fit. Doing the math, I get almost 4" of tire height difference. You'll be lucky to fit those with a 3" BL and a 3" suspension lift. If you look hard enough in the "Raised Dakotas" section, you'll find plenty of guys stating what size they fit.

Message: 4x4x4dr,
did you crank up your torsion bars on your truck?
or is the BL the only lift on your truck. I really like it.

Message: I personally think you guys are nuts running these oversize tires on the weak dakota ifs systems. My 98 had 33" mickey thompsons until one blew up, and once I get some money up I'm replacing the stockers with 32" pro comp a/t's or 31x11.5" sts radials. BTW all I have is a 3" body lift. If you read about why some guys here do solid axle swaps-its because they grenade the pinion out of the front differential because they were running 33's offroad.

Message: well... honestly? my Dak doesn't see but about 8k miles a year.... and it rarely sees the dirt/mud... I have a real 4x4 (CJ7)(JK) for all my off-road stuff, and to drive to work in bad weather... and I have two bikes I ride most of the year.... basically, my dakota is just my present to me for spending the last two years of playing in the sand...
and besides.... my WIFES truck has 33's....
later yall

Message: That's why I stopped running 33's (other than the fact they blew up) is that I got a real 4x4 w150 at home, parked next to the dakota. That has 33's, I don't see the point in wasting gas on 33's that won't see a use for them. I figure 32" all terrains will make the truck sit nice and do well in snow.

Message: Dude, i had 33x12.5 BFG muds on my truck (99 club cab 4x4) with a 5.5" Tough Country susp. lift. I had the t-bars cranked a bit extra and still rubbed off road!!!! I was running Eagle Alloy 589's 15x8" wheels. If you run your stock wheels or stock backspacing you will only rub on the frame unless you run a 33x10.5 wide, but that just looks too narrow. My current set-up is 35x13.5" Toyo Open Country MT's with my Tough Country lift and added a 3" body lift to clear them. I am running a full 10"s of lift (7" suspension)- 4" blocks with 2, yes 2 add-a-leafs in the back and the truck sits level. I did my own torsion bar key mod to get 7" out of the front (had to remove the lower bump stops that came with the lift) Don't forget I still have a 3" body lift on top of this for a total of 10" of lift. I do have good clearace now but wouldn't consider going any bigger than 37's. As it is I can still stuff my 35's in the back part of the inner fender if I hit something hard while turning. Hope this info helps you guys. I won't be here much longer- i'm getting out of the game with the Dakota and buying a new F-250 diesel to lift. Sorry guys- I'm really gunna miss my Dakota but its time to move on. By the way-EVERTHING LISTED HERE IS FOR SALE. Lift- suspension and body, tires-33's and 35's, and my wheels. I'm located by MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN if anyone is interested in buying anything. I'm planning on trading the truck in bone stock so everything is going to be pulled off and sitting in the garage. Spread the word! My e-mail is tonka4x88@yahoo.com
THANKS!!!
