I have a 97 slt 4x4 and am considering cranking the torsion bars to get a 1 or 2 inches of lift in the front. Any negatives to this. Was it easy to do. any input would be great!!!

Negatives? Some say a rougher ride. I did it to my truck - seems about the same to me. A trucks a truck, right!? Also, you should get an alignment after adjusting your torsion bars. Hope this helps. (I got close to about 1 1/2" after adjusting mine)

Won't tightening the torsion bars lift the front only and then leave the back stock??

yes it only raises the front...however i perosnally already have a add-a-leaf kit on the back and my rear sits 3inchs higher than the front (i think stock there it sits about an inch higher and the add-a-leaf raised it two inches) anyway it looks goofy and i want to level it but i don't know for sure where the torsion bars are cranked!

Oh that's simple. Just look for 2 rods that bolt underneath the cab. You'll see a bolt on each of them. Just crank them in but make sure that you keep it even. If not then it will really look messed up.
