Subject: Lifted Dakota 10"'s...need help IP: Logged
Message: Does anyone know if this person a member on the site?
Take a look at this:
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/561760
I have some questions...What kind of lift would you guess he has? Where can i purchase a kit to lift my dakota. Also, this may not be the right forum but what model dakota is that? What model has the bumpers the same color as the body? Most dakotas have a metal front and rear bumper.
Thanks,
Ryan

Message: That is prolly the Truckin Suspension lift, I think they had a 9.5" lift but not a good way to go.
Your best lift option for a 2000 -2002 Dakota 4x4 is a Rancho 3" suspension and a PA 3' body lift

Message: stay away from truckin. you've been warned. you'll notice 99% of dakotas with that much lift are for sale, and are for sale for a reason. most of these trucks have only had the lift in for a short amount of time. the common excuse for selling there truck is having a baby, going back to school, pure b.s. in my opinion.

Message: There’s nothing bad about lifting a truck if it’s done right with a decent quality kit or really good fabrication skills. Truckin Suspension and Whiplash are just two names I frequently see mentioned on the boards with the words junk, crappy, lousy or Piece of S*&t somewhere else in the sentence. Do a search on this board and you’ll find a lot of threads where people who have one of them are complaining about the quality/durability if the kits. I would also says the odds are most of those owners either no longer have the kits in question installed or no longer own the trucks they were complaining about.

Note: I very frequently get email from people asking about the lift kit in my
’88. Typically, I will NOT respond the emails (about 90%) that ask questions
I’ve already covered on my web pages (ie. Where did you get the kit?, Who
makes it?, How much did it cost?, What modifications did you have to make to get it to fit your truck?. How hard was it to install? What problems did you
encounter? etc, etc...)

Message: From what i've heard these lifts are irreversable, meaning there is some cutting of the frame required.

Message: Go with a 3 inch body, crank the torsion bars, and a 5 1/2 suspension lift from Tuff Country. Thats the setup i have and i could easily clear 35 or 36's

Message: So, is Tuff Country a reliable suspension lift? What brand body lift? That sounds like a nice lift...i would like something of that nature. What did it run you? And what does crankin the torsion bars mean?
Sorry for all the questions :)

Message: Installation for the suspension lift was 700 and it was 500 for the body lift. However, body lift could easily be installed if you have the time. suspension lift you definitely want to let a professional do though. my dakota is a black 97

Message: His truck has a 9" ts lift on it. I also considered this lift. I choose the Tuff Country 5.5" for my 1998, it measured 6". TS lift states in the instructions that it is not intended for street use. Lets face it these lifts are for looks or ground clearance. Your suspension travel will be the same. I love the way my truck turned out. You can see my truck here, http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/768745
