is it true that the 4x4 drive model in 97 came w/ a 3 inch body lift factory? my friend was telling me that my truck (97 dak 4x4, ext. cab) has a lift on it and im just starting to get into the sport but is this true and would i need to get another body lift before i put larger tires on it?

did you buy your dak used? maybe someone put one on it. i have a 97 dak 4x4 ext. cab and i am putting a lift on this next weekend. but no, they don't come lifted out of the factory as far as i know.

i have 31x10.5 15s, no they do not rub at all, if you have 32s or 33s and they don't rub then your truck is lifted. if you have 32s or 33s with out a lift you wouldn't even be able to turn without rubbing. you probably have 31s or 30s if it isn't lifted and those shouldn't rub on stock. just look at your tire and see what size it is

no, they haven't ever rubbed and i have been running 31s since i got my truck (3years ago and put 70K on her). although i have to admitt i don't offroad very much, actually only three times! but once i get my lift and 32 or 33 (haven't decided) on i will probably go on a regular basis!

as far as coming with a factory 3" lift, i think what they are refering to is that a 4x4 is generally about 3 inches higher than a 2 wheel drive model.

hey i believe the 31x10.5 are stock on dakotas and if they aren't you can take it to a dodge dealer and they can calibrate everything for you for a fee, that's what i've got on my truck and have never had a problem.

jimmerz, the 31 x 10.5 are optional tires that came w/ a certain package in 97, as far as the tires i have, i have the little number and letter gibberish tires.
