Subject: Need suspension expert HELP! IP: Logged
Message: What better a place to ask "How to CORRECTLY lower a 4x4 Durango" than a forum where experts on lifting 4x4's reside.
Look at pictures of my Durango before throwing out comments like, Buy a 2x4 or don't do it. I'm never going to sell it and I will only convert to a 2x4 if bags go on it, but I don't want to do this yet.

I have a 1999 4x4 Dodge Durango with a 5.9L and 3.92 gears. The leaf springs are under the rear axle.
I bought my Durango when I lived in an area that got 4' of snow several times a winter. Now I live near Miami, FL. I would like to lower my Durango correctly.
Currently I have 3" lowering blocks in the rear and have lowered the 4x4 via the torsion bars 3"s up front.
I just sold my 23" rims and tires (~ 32"s in diameter) because I was sick of the rubbing and front camber.
I even drilled out (lengthened) the slots in the front control arms to try to correct the front camber but it didn't totally correct it.
I'd like either a 2-3 or a 3-3 drop depending on if I run a 20 - 22 rim combo or just 22s.
I'm no expert on suspensions. What exactly are the ramifications of using blocks in the rear? How do shims work to correct driveline angle. I really don't understand any of this shat.
Are there any shackles out there for other vehicles that would work to lower my rear? Kind of like the chevy shakles raise a Durango 2"s?
What would you all do if you were me and you had to lower this 4x4 correctly aside from airbags?
As for the front... I'd like to lower it keeping all front end geometry the same. How do I do this? Torsion keys that lower it? Who would be able to fab up these keys for me? Would keys even work on our vehicles? Don't the torsion bars attach near the control arms?
The rims and tires I am going to get next are going to be close to stock specs.
Please help me out. Suggestions, parts, part numbers, how to's, contacts, etc.
Thank you.
