Subject: body lift, yea i kno another 1 IP: Logged
Message: just got some questions, and yes i have read just about every other thread on this site.
ok first off i have a 98 4x4 with a 5.2. the biggest thing that worries me is the 4x4 shifter. ive read about buying the allthread and a coupler but heres my question on that. from wut im picturing in my head, the knob is bolted to the shaft and u remove the knob, put in a threaded extension, then a coupler and bolt the knob to the coupler?? in that case doesn't the rod have to be the same threads as the shaft? and wut is that thread size??
my other question is about tires. some say u can fit 33 on with a little trimming, others say they could barely fit 32s. so could i fit 33s on my stock 15 in. rims with a little trimming?? also since my truck is my daily driver, wut tires do u recommend? i am leading more towards all terrain tires. i was looking at the deuler revos but i do like the more aggresive looking tread on the all-terrain t/a. i want aggressive tread but not alot of noise (yes i kno that its kinda two opposites). thanks for any help

Message: what about the shifter? all u have to do is weld on the extension that comes with the kit...and if u just want all terrains then u can easily fit 33's. and it doesnt matter what kind of tires if u are just getting all ta's. i have a daily driver and i have bfg muds. they arent loud at all so they r good too.

Message: you take off the knob, screw the coupler onto the shaft, then a piece of allthread into the top of the coupler, then screw the knob back onto the allthread.

Message: just take the nut that is in the top of the knob(under the cap with the shifting diagram) to a hardware store and get the coupler and allthread that fits
