Subject: Help!! (axle shafts)

Message:
Hi I have a 2000 4.7 4x4 and just recently the front driver side axle shaft seal started leeking. I have been trying to replace it but cant figure out how to seperate the axle shaft from the front diff. I was wondering if I have to open the diff to release a clip or something. Could someone please give me some answers, this seems like a simple replacement that will save me money by not going to the shop.

you have to remove the 6 bolts that connect the shaft to the diff. you will prob have to undo the upper and lower ball joints and tie rod. then it should come right out maybe give it a smack with the hammer to break any rust holding it on. (its easier if you dont have a air racket to lock it into 4x4 and then undo the 3 lower bolts then take it out of 4x4 and spin the drive shaft around so you can get at the 3 other bolts then lock it into 4x4 again)
