I was thinking today after putting a lift on my aunt's jeep, about opening my own offroad shop.
i was just wondering what you guys thought of this considering that the only one around here that i know of went out of business. i mean it wouldn't be anything hardcore but i mean doing something every now and then.

Also where could i get some cheap lifts, like cheap money wise but not quality wise, to sell to my costomers (If i do this).

Running a business is hard man, there's a TON of paperwork to do, taxes and all the bull. If you're looking to make some extra cash, that's cool. Make up some paper advertisement and stick them to bus shelters & grocery stores, or anywhere you know of that guys go four-wheeling.

Word-of-mouth advertising the the cheapest and best. You need to have a business phone number & a garage to do the work in. A lot of guys want to watch you do the work too, so is your garage presentable? Dealing with family is one thing, but strangers have no problem giving you greif.

Tell your friends to let their friends know you're available to sell and install kits. Business cards are very good, less than $100 for 1000. Again, ask friends to hand them out to people.

#1 Question: How much. You need to get a chart together with common vehicles & lift kit prices, plus whatever you're charging to install it. EG;

Year Vehicle Lift Price

85-90 CJ/YJ 2" Body $130 installed
85-90 CJ/YJ 3" Body $150 installed
85-90 CJ 4" Susp $750 installed
87-90 Dakota 2" Body $125 installed
87-91 Dakota 3" Body $145 installed
92-96 Dakota 4" Susp $450 installed
97-99 Dakota 6" Susp $875 installed

Yada yada...

Remember old vehicles will break bolts & consume more time. New vehicles, owners tend to be more picky about squeaks and rattles. What about tires and rims? Can you order those too? Or name your company "Just Lifts". :)

Good luck,
